Here’s a brief guide on how to keep your Delta 8 THC edibles fresh. Created with Bay Smokes.
Cured cannabis flower can be stored for ages if kept under the ideal conditions, but what do we know about making our edibles last for a long time?
Bay Smokes has what you are looking for in the edibles department, literally. They have all kinds of Delta 8 infused treats for you to enjoy. From tinctures to gummies, oreos, and more, there are many different snacks to choose from and try out!
My personal favorites are the rice krispy bars and gummies, two of my favorite all-time snacks from my childhood.

The most exciting thing to note is that all edibles are made differently and will last according to the presentation or type of food they are.
We cannot give you a definitive list of the specific time items will last, but we can give you a framework for you to base yourself on with consideration on the label printed on the edible.
Like any other food, cannabis edibles will last as long as you care to store and maintain them properly. You are responsible for how long your food lasts in optimal conditions, and there are many tips and tricks available for you to maximize the amount of time you can store your snacks.
In reality, there are many different properties we want to keep an eye out in food, to get the most out of what the producer intended. As a cook, I understand how important it is to keep all organoleptic properties of food in check. These will determine the overall satisfaction we get when we taste or consume the food.
We want to preserve the aroma and taste, color and physical appearance, texture and consistency, and at times the packaging. These characteristics are what we take in through our senses when consuming food, and they’re also key aspects to consider to determine if a snack has gone to waste or spoiled.

As with most foods, you check certain traits that tell whether the edible in question is still fresh or decaying. Do take the printed date on the package as a guide.
Still, these are not necessarily the last word, as some manufacturers go for really conservative standards that rely on the consumer being utterly irresponsible with how they store their food.
The most classic tells will be aroma and color; we may also take the physical appearance into great consideration because if an edible is supposed to be consistent and solid but is gooey, it might have passed to a better life.
Be smart, intuitive, and responsible; even if common sense isn’t the most common of the senses, you will surely be able to determine if one of Bay Smokes Dorito-type edibles has lost its crisp and crunchy texture.
Sometimes, food may still look appealing and smell fresh but may have lost a thing or two in the texture and taste department. Perhaps this might be uncomfortable because you’ve already taken the snack to your mouth, but a little sip or bite of a spoiled item will not get you sick.
In summary, the best way to know whether or not your edibles are still good is through your senses and overall wit.
Moldy, soggy, funky-smelling edibles are not ok, but at other times you won’t know ‘til you’ve taken a small bite.

We recommend you treat your edibles as you’d treat fresh flower: kept stored in an airtight container away from humidity, harsh light, and extreme temperatures. You can preserve and even extend the shelf-life of any food item by keeping it in a cool, controlled environment.
Most of Bay Smoke’s edibles come in resealable, airtight packages that will help you preserve their freshness. However, if you buy edibles without these types of packaging, you can resort to resealable bags, squeeze the air out and zip it shut, then store it in your pantry, goody container, or fridge.
Some treats will benefit from freezing if you’re not consuming them with haste but do consider that as likely as it is to help preserve your food by freezing, this may also damage or alter the properties we want to take good care of.
The best advice I can give you is to consume your snacks as soon as possible to get the most out of them, and if you’re to preserve them, don’t forget about them, it’s a sad thought to lose out on edibles because of spoilage.
