The Herbalist: The World’s Largest Grow Facilities

Your weed was probably grown here.

Have you ever wondered which cultivation facilities are pushing out the most cannabis?

If you’re a curious stoner like me and want to know details about the world’s largest cultivation sites, keep reading for your dose of canna knowledge.

Before we continue, let’s remember that Canada is the largest country that’s legalized recreational cannabis.

While the United States is slowly catching up with its state-by-state approach, it makes sense that most cultivation facilities sit on North American land.

HEXO Corp - Ontario & Quebec

This massive cultivation facility has locations in both Ontario and Quebec, Canada.

In fact, it’s one of the largest in the great white north, coming in at 2,000,000 square feet. HEXO Corp’s cultivation facility was first launched to grow cannabis for medicinal marijuana patients.

However, that quickly changed when Canada legalized recreational weed.

Now, HEXO Corp pushes adult-use cannabis for brands like HEXO, HEXO Plus, Up, Original Stash, Bake Sale, and HEXO medical cannabis.

Los Sueños Farms - Colorado

This cultivation site is based in Pueblo, Colorado, and has been one of the state’s largest facilities since legalization.

It sits on a generous 1,428,000 square feet of land and is family-owned.

Los Sueños takes great pride in its careful and sustainable practices. Its cannabis is mostly sun-grown and organic, sitting on 36 outdoor acres with a smaller indoor section.

Copperstate Farms - Arizona

This cultivation site made the move from a greenhouse into a full-blown cannabis farm that also manufactures edibles.

It started as a garden for tomatoes, but now, it’s expanded into a 1,700,000 square foot cannabis cultivation facility. The site runs sustainable and eco-friendly practices that involve natural sunlight for growth.

Copperstate Farms has an entire kitchen dedicated to its edible roll-out and another lab for extracting cannabis distillate.

Mammoth Farms - Colorado

Mammoth Farms ranks as the second-largest grow site in the world.

The facility is 3,484,800 square feet and has a few locations throughout the state.

Since Colorado legalized recreational weed in 2012, Mammoth Farms has been a key player in meeting the state’s demand.

It started in 2014 as a medical cultivation site but has since expanded to carry every kind of cannabis product on the market.

Ultra Health - New Mexico

Ultra Health opened back in 2018, and since then, it’s remained the largest cultivation facility in the world.

This colossal cannabis site is a whopping 9,213,000 square feet, meaning roughly 52 Walmart stores could fit inside.

All productions based at Ultra Health go towards thirty different dispensaries that treat medical and recreational consumers.

Since New Mexico’s recent recreational legalization, Ultra Health is planning to expand by another 225,000 square feet to meet the new demand.

Final Thoughts

It’s easy to understand why Colorado has two of the largest cultivation facilities in the world.

And although there are many more facilities in Canada, the U.S. loves taking operations to the max with large procedures and tons of land.

If you live in one of the states or provinces above, chances are, you’ve probably smoked weed from one of these sites.
