Behind The Brand: A$AP Rocky’s Furniture Design Studio, Hommemade

A$AP Rocky's new furniture design studio launches with a shroomy collaboration.

Celebrities getting into cannabis is nothing new. However, celebrities dabbling in home goods and designs that pay homage to their recreational passions aren’t as heard of.

More recently, American musician, rapper, and hip-hop recording artist A$AP Rocky launched his furniture interior design studio dubbed Hommemade.

The brand recently launched a shroom-friendly collaboration with Italian interior design brand Gufram to showcase the first piece from the collection, the Shroom Cactus.

Learn more about Hommemade and why A$AP Rocky launched it below.

Behind The Brand

Hommemade is a new brand and furniture design studio that makes luxury pieces that strive to push the boundaries of what home decor can be.

Since the brand is rather new, it’s only launched one piece so far, but further details are soon to come. So far, Rocky noted in a press release that his goal with the brand is to create “pieces that defy normalcy, inspire creativity, and ensure comfort.”

His collaboration with the Italian design brand Gufram honors the 50th anniversary of the brand’s iconic CACTUS designs from Guido Drocco and Franco Mello. Rocky added that his interest in collaborating with Gufram stems from the brand “being playfully innovative without ever losing its luxury appeal.”

Hommemade x Gufram

Hommemade‘s first available piece is the Shroom Cactus in collaboration with Gufram. Although Gufram’s cacti have existed long before this collaboration, A$AP is putting his own spin on this classic design while paying tribute to his love for hallucinogenic drugs, like psilocybin mushrooms.

A$AP Rocky is frequently open about his experiences with psychedelics, from his 2015 hit “L$D” to his feature in the 2020 documentary Have A Good Trip: Adventures In PsychedelicsHommemade‘s first product being an homage to a psychedelic substance is no shocker.

The Shroom Cactus first met the public when displayed at Design Miami. A$AP explained the significance of the Shroom Cactus from his perspective, stating the following:

“This is the first collaboration from my Hommemade decor studio, and since I’ve always advocated for mushrooms, it was only right that we made a cactus with [Gufram].”

Hommemade has yet to share more details on future collaborations or solo drops. In the meantime, be sure to stay up to date with Hommemade through their Instagram page, and expect more trippy home decor in the near future.
