Celebrate This 4/20 With The Upcoming Cypress Hill Documentary

'Cypress Hill: Insane in The Brain' will premiere on Showtime this 4/20, exploring the legendary 90s hip-hop group's influential careers and cannabis advocacy.

Whether you’ve caught one of their tracks in a movie, strolled across their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (the first star given to a hip-hop group), or are a mega-fan of 90s hip-hop, chance are you’ve been influenced by the legendary group Cypress Hill

Now, fans of the Latinx rappers can witness history through their screens with the forthcoming Showtime premiere of ‘Cypress Hill: Insane in The Brain.’ The documentary will give an in-depth look at the group’s influence on Los Angeles hip-hop as well as their long and legendary careers.

Cypress Hill reached peak fame in the 90s by selling multi-platinum and platinum records. As mentioned earlier, they were also the first hip-hop group to receive their very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, reports Collider.

Even if you’re not a fan of hip-hop, there’s no denying the Cypress Hill boys are proud advocates for both medical and recreational cannabis legalization, and those ventures are still moving full steam ahead.

While the forthcoming documentary will go into detail regarding how the group has managed to be so influential for three decades, we’re looking forward to hearing about Cypress Hill’s affiliation with cannabis, how they use it for creativity, and why they’re so passionate about the plant.

‘Cypress Hill: Insane in The Brain’ is produced by Estevan Oriol and Peter J. Scalettar of Sony Music Entertainment and Mass Appeal. The documentary will premiere on Showtime this April 20, the perfect day to kick back, toke away, and watch the boys make history.

According to Collider, Tom Mackay and Richard Story of Sony Music Entertainment, Sacha Jenkins and Peter Bittenbender of Mass Appeal, and Deb Klein of Primary Wave are also listed as executive producers.

As part of Showtime’s “Hip Hop 50” banner, it will also release two similar documentaries like ‘La Madrina: The Savage Life Of Lorine Padilla,’ focussing on Savage Skulls Gang’s “First Lady” Lorine Padilla. Following this documentary will be ‘Bushwick Bill: Geto Boy,’ about the late Jamaican-American rapper Richard Shaw.

All three documentaries will arrive this April on Showtime, with ‘Cypress Hill: Insane in The Brain’ premiering on Wednesday, April 20, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
