Chris Webber Opens New Cannabis Facility For A Good Cause

The NBA legend recently established a dispensary and training program for the greater good.

Chris Webber is the latest NBA star to make his way into the cannabis industry, and for a good cause. Opening today, Webber’s 140,000 square foot cannabis facility will make its debut in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

The venture began when he co-founded a $100 million private equity cannabis fund to help businesses in low-income communities with a two-and-a-half-month cannabis training program across California.

After securing the Cookies Campus program earlier this year, Webber planted his feet back in Detroit, where he established his 60,000-square-foot cultivation space and 80,000-square-foot dispensary entitled Players Only Holdings. The facility will also come with a lounge for marijuana consumption and will hold the Cookies Campus program as well.

Webber hopes to employ up to 5000 people with the new facility, especially those struggling in their community. His action plan states the following; “Detroiters will have jobs, they’ll be trained, and the vestiges of these terrible laws will be erased because the families that were stigmatized, that were hurt, that were separated by these laws, can now benefit from them.”

He continued, “Name one business where Blacks haven’t been left out. First and foremost, this is about business and access to individuals who are qualified and giving access to the community that was so unfairly targeted by unfair laws, racist laws.”
