Elon Musk Wants Us To Normalize Psychedelics, Here’s Why

Is he right? We think so.

Elon Musk has made it clear that he’s passionate about space, the celestials, and beyond our earth, but he recently mentioned how he’s open to exploring our internal selves with help from psychedelics.

The Tesla CEO predicts that when we reach the days when our younger generations assume positions of power in government, we’re expected to see a wider societal acceptance of psychedelics and their therapeutic benefits. During the CodeCon event, Musk was asked about his thoughts on psychedelics for society. Since he has quite a history of discussing DMT, the topic of psychedelics was bound to make its way back to him.

When Field Trip co-founder Ronan Levy asked, “what role do you think psychedelics may have in addressing some of the more destructive tendencies of humanity?” Musk responded, “I think, generally, people should be open to psychedelics. A lot of people making laws are kind of from a different era, so I think, as the new generation gets into political power, I think we will see greater receptivity to the benefits of psychedelics.”

That’s what we love to hear; people growing more fond of all-natural psychedelics and the variety of benefits they offer. From becoming more environmentally conscious to improving relationships, psychedelics are a gift from the earth that we should never take for granted.

Although the SpaceX founder has an open mind and encourages the same regarding psychedelics and their benefits, he also put in his two cents about CBD on Joe Rogan’s podcast earlier this year, saying that CBD is overhyped and “doesn’t do anything.”

The conversation followed Musk and Rogan discussing their previous podcast episode in 2018, where the infamous meme or Musk toking a blunt originated. This sparked an investigation by NASA over SpaceX’s workplace safety and “adherence to a drug-free environment,” and it turns out that Musk actually never inhaled the blunt, to begin with.

Although he seems to frown upon CBD and how it’s “overhyped” (insert rolling eyes emoji here), he does toy around with the idea of cannabis and its culture more often than not. For example, when shares of Tesla reached $420, he took to Twitter and noted a few crying laughing emojis while writing, “Whoa … the stock is so high lol.”

Musk also played into the cannabis holiday 420 when he said he was considering taking Tesla private at a share price of $420. This did see some backlash from the Securities and Exchange Commission, who described it as “false and misleading” as he didn’t notify regulators of his sudden shift.
