Everything You Need To Know About Visiting The Artist Tree, California’s Newest Consumption Lounge

Here's what to expect on your visit to LA's newest consumption lounge.

You might have heard of Los Angeles’ only consumption lounge. And I’m not talking about the Original Cannabis Café that’s been closed since the pandemic.

I’m talking about the new, welcoming, and artsy dispensary/lounge sitting on Santa Monica Boulevard.

The Artist Tree Studio Dispensary Lounge is currently the only pro-consumption weed lounge up and running in the city. Maybe you’ve strolled by and wondered what the hype was all about.

It’s not your average lounge. But the friendly staff, budtenders, and delicious food help bring a sense of community and comfort.

Above The Dispensary

The Artist Tree consumption lounge is located two floors above its dispensary.

Just one floor above that is a different kind of consumption lounge. Guests are invited to indulge in non-smokable products like edibles and tinctures.

The Artist Tree’s third non-smokeable floor also holds puff and paint classes. The instructors are artists whose work features in the dispensary downstairs.

Although it has two separate locations for those who may not want to sit in a room full of smoke, The Artist Tree’s air filtration system was impressive. Smoke clouds don’t linger, even when you’re using a heavyweight product like the Stündenglass Gravity Infuser.

Inside The Lounge

If you want to smoke anything at The Artist Tree, you must purchase it that same day from the dispensary downstairs. The second option is ordering products to your table through a tablet given by the server.

Once you’ve got your goods, you’ll need something to smoke them out of. The Artist Tree’s “bar” doesn’t hold various liquor bottles but a ton of bongs. Renting these glass pieces ranged from $7 to $40, and it was pretty tempting to go all in.

Of course, we used the industry’s favorite product at the moment, the Stündenglass Gravity Infuser. It’s a kickass gravity bong that’s perfect for sharing with friends and upping your canna knowledge with high-end devices.

As you’re puffing away, a few comedians take the stage to keep your laughs rolling. Were all of them great? No, but the crowd was happy enough to support them with a round of applause and a few stoned giggles.

After a few massive tokes from the gravity bong, we ended the evening with the renowned Disco Fries. It felt like upgraded poutine. It comes with a whole whack of garlic fries topped with lip-smacking chicken gravy and melted provolone cheese.

Needless to say, we were waddling out of The Artist Tree stoned, full, and ready for a movie. My experience at Los Angeles’ only up-and-running consumption lounge was unforgettable.

Whether you choose to smoke up in the consumption area, snack on edibles in the non-smokeable lounge, or even sign up for a puff and paint class, The Artist Tree has an experience for all.
