An initiative we all benefit from.
Last week, the Humboldt County Economic Development Divison released a statement announcing that due to the many hardships seen over the past year, the division will now give micro-grants to local cannabis cultivators.
The micro-grants are a way to allow local cannabis cultivators to receive funding after the financial challenges of COVID-19, the fires, and droughts. The grant is called the County of Humboldt’s Project Trellis Emergency Micro-Grant. The division says there is currently $1 million in funds available from a one-time Measure S disbursement given by the Board of Supervisors on Sept. 21.
The new program will be administered by the Country Administrative Office, Economic Development Team (GoHumCo), and the Project Trellis Committee. If cannabis cultivation businesses possess post-approval permits and provisional or annual state licenses, these businesses can apply for up to $25,000 to aid in business expenses or related debt.

To see if you’re eligible for the new Humboldt County Economic Development Divison grant, see below. Applicants must:
The deadline to submit for the micro-grant is Dec. 15, 5 p.m., and please ensure that the application is thoroughly completed, along with the required attachments. Applications missing information will not be considered. All applications submitted will then be reviewed by Economic Development Staff for completion and tallying.
The Project Trellis Committee will also review recommended funding for each individual business. Once the decision has been finalized, the Economic Development staff will later present the final funding recommendations to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors for their final approval. The statement writes that applications “may be subject to public disclosure pursuant to the California Public Records Act.”
