Inter Miami CF – Miami’s Awesome New Soccer Team

Did you know Miami has a pretty rad soccer team?

Its been four years since Major League Soccer announced the addition of its 25th club, South Florida’s own Inter Miami CF. After playing their first game in March 2020, the club has grown to reflect and represent Miami locals and soccer fans. For far too long, there’s been a drought of soccer in South Florida, and Inter Miami CF couldn’t have come at a better time.

Now, the club has 160 acres of field to play on and host games at the Miami Freedom Park, a world-class stadium holding 28,000 seats. The stadium sits next to the Miami International Airport in the city’s heart. Additionally, there are plans to change Lockhart Stadium into Inter Miami’s official training facility, but the City of Fort Lauderdale is still examining that proposal.

Interim Miami CF was thirlled to sign its first set of skilled players, 19-year-old Argentinian Matías Pellegrini from Estudiantes de la Plata alongside 19-year-old Argentinian Julián Carrranza from Club Atlético Banfield. After signing its complete roster in 2019, the club headed to South Korea and played its very first tournament and match.

The boys came out the gates swinging and won their first official match against Ansan 2-0. After heading back home, Inter Miami CF played its debut Major League Soccer game on March 1, 2020, against Los Angeles FC at Banc of California Stadium. Although Inter Miami CF’s prior tournament was a great start, the boys were unfortunately defeated by one goal but held their heads high.

On August 22, 2020, the club achieved their first win on home grounds at Inter Miami CF Stadium against Orlando City SC with a 3-2 victory. The first player ever signed to the club, Julián Carranza, scored his very first goal that night, marking a milestone for the club as the first MLS goal scored at Inter Miami CF Stadium, according to the club’s website

The next game will take place on February 22, 2022, at DRV PNK Stadium against Chicago Fire FC at 6:00 pm ET. Inter Miami CF also has three games lined up throughout March, facing Austin FC, Los Angeles FC, and FC Cincinnati. For now, check out the club’s website for more details on Inter Miami CF and their next endeavors.
