Talk about representing your band's love for weed.
There’s no doubt that musicians love weed.
In fact, some of the best songs were written under Mary Jane’s influence.
While some musicians love it more than others, one band is really putting its admiration for cannabis on a pedestal.
If you were dropping the pin on records like Sleep’s 1999 album Dopesmoker, prepare for a dank blast from the past.
Under Jack White’s Third Man Records, Sleep will re-release the record with an accompanying vinyl that contains real cannabis leaves pressed into the vinyl’s interior.
The album was re-released today (August 25) on all digital streaming platforms, and the album is currently available for in-store, in-person purchases.
This weed-friendly move from Sleep isn’t new. The band is known to tie in their favorite plant by subtitling their vinyl with names like Indica, Sativa, and Hasheeshian.
According to a press release, the new vinyl was manufactured by Third Man Records’ Pressing Plant in Detroit. Also, the vinyl was created in partnership with Doghouse Farms Premium Cannabis, which supplied the real cannabis leaves.
The press release states;
“This beautiful vinyl contains the quintessential representation of Sleep’s plant of choice, the seven-pointed pot leaf embedded in a “mosquito-in-amber” fashion within the LP.”
Instead of subtitling the record with Indica or Sativa, Sleep calls it the Weedian High-Fi. However, because the vinyl contains cannabis leaves (which are federally illegal), you can only purchase the vinyl in person at Third Man Records Cass Corridor in Detroit.
