New Study Suggests To Elevate Your Sex Drive With Cannabis

New research from Spain isn’t telling you to walk to your nearest dispensary but run. The small-scale study shows that cannabis can enhance your sex life, and that includes desire, arousal, and orgasms. 

Published in the journal Healthcare, the researchers found young people using cannabis often have “better overall sexual function” than older people and those who don’t use cannabis. There’s truly an abundance of studies that highlight how weed helps enhance one’s sex life, makes the experience more pleasurable, and helps individuals relax before doing the deed. 

The study had 185 female participants and 89 males from January to June 2020. During these six months, the participant was judged based on their experiences with sexual functioning, arousal, and orgasm. Not to our surprise, the group of weed smokers had better experiences and sex lives than the others. The interesting part, and one that doesn’t happen too often, is that the study found no differences in experience between males and females.

The researchers noted that alcohol did not make a “significant impact” in terms of enhancing a sexual experience. They also explained the reasoning behind cannabis enhancing sexual function, which includes heightened perceptions, time distortion, relaxation, and decreased inhibition. In women, specifically, they found cannabis reduces pelvic pain caused by penetration or other conditions.

The team added that young people who frequently use cannabis and moderately consume alcohol are in direct correlation with a “reduction in anxiety and shame, which facilitates sexual relationships.”

In conclusion, the research suggested that cannabis and alcohol use could make young people less cognizant of the dangers of unprotected sex. The study left us by encouraging young people to become educated on practicing safe sex and take proper precautions when engaging in intercourse while impaired from cannabis and alcohol.
