Retired Pro Athletes & Industry Players United At This Year’s Athletes In Cannabis Event

The trade show and conference was a "haven for an exchange of ideas."

Professional athletes use cannabis for all sorts of reasons.

Between medicinal and recreational use, athletes everywhere are looking to the plant for some kind of healing.

Earlier this month in Newark, New Jerseyathletes spoke about their passion for the plant at the Athletes in Cannabis trade show and conference.

The event featured a handful of retired athletes from leagues like the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB. They took the stage and networked with various industry players,

  • Cannabis lawyers
  • Marketing specialists
  • Capital companies
  • Medical professionals
  • Accountants
  • Growers
  • Suppliers
  • Dispensary owners

Jeff Walter, CEO and co-founder of Athletes In Cannabissays the event is designed to be a “haven for an exchange of ideas.” It’s also a great opportunity to “expand your knowledge and network.”

A Day At The Event

On May 6 and 7, guests, exhibitors, speakers, and more were invited to interact and network during the following;

  • Lunch: A casual lunch that only featured exhibitors, speakers, and sponsors.
  • All-Day Conference Room: This was the go-to hub for networking. Instead of leaving casual interactions in the hotel lobby, the event created a room for guests to discuss business ventures and opportunities all day long.
  • Networking Soiree: On May 6, the successful day ended with the final networking opportunity during the Networking Soiree at the Hilton Newark Airport. There was a cash bar on-site, and the soiree also featured lovely hors d’oeuvres.

A list of retired pros who spoke at the event includes the following;

  • Former left winger for the Philadelphia Flyers Riley Cote. Riley is also a founding member of Athletes for Care.
  • Former MLB pitcher for the Braves, Dodgers, Rangers, and Brewers, Kameron Loe. Kameron is also the President of The Association of Professional Ball Players Alliance.
  • Former player for the New York Jets, Reggie Grant. Reggie is also the CEO & Co-founder of eSports Instruction Inc, eSiPitch.com, Athletes in Cannabis, Athletes in Art, and NFTs By Athletes.

There were a ton of other industry professionals that took the stage. Each brought up different matters like

  • How to obtain various licenses
  • Alternative payment methods in a cash-based industry
  • Law reform
  • Navigating the industry’s legal landscape from a lawyer’s perspective
  • Increasing online exposure

With heaps of valuable information, we’re sure guests have a refreshed outlook on working in the cannabis industry.
