St. Vincent And The Grenadines Becomes First Country To Legalize Psychedelics For Medical And Scientific Use

With legalized psychedelics for medical use and scientific research, St. Vincent and the Grenadines hopes to become the world leader of progressive medicine.

Under a recent license allowing corporations to produce psychedelic compounds, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) just made monumental moves as the first country to legalize psychedelic medicine.

With such an accomplishment comes some high expectations. Researchers and even political figures now hope SVG will continue living up to its name by ensuring it remains the most progressive country in terms of researching the healing powers of psychedelic substances.

The largest psychedelic conference on the planet, Microdose, explained SVG-based company Med Plant Science is the first to be given the green light to produce these compounds under the recent measure to legalize psychedelic medicine.

Additionally, suppose other research and production companies like Med Plant Science successfully create reliable, safe, and science-backed medicine. In that case, they will be permitted to give the substances to clinical trials exploring PTSD, addiction, alcoholism, depression, and anxiety.

According to LA Weekly, CEO of Med Plant Science, Angus Taylor, spoke on SVG news about how the new license allows “research to demonstrate psychedelic compounds are safe and effective medicines.” Furthermore, Taylor explained that “It’s our goal to advance disruptive technologies and support novel treatment centers within the psychedelics space.”

SVG Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry & Labour also had a few exciting words on the recent license to allow psychedelic medicine, research, and production. Hon. Sabota Caesar says it would hopefully position the country as a leader and hub for progressive medicine.

With a reputation like this, Caesar is hopeful the recent license would attract scientists, researchers, and academics alike to help change the world of modern medicine. Not to mention the country’s prospective export market would flourish once other countries begin making use of psychedelic therapy.

Caesar spoke with Reuters about how “St. Vincent and the Grenadines is ready for global business in the Medicinal Wellness Industry space,” explaining that even cannabis will play a role in the future of medicine, and the country is already examining its many therapeutic uses.

Under the new license created by the SVG Bureau of Standards, the country now allows the cultivation, processing, and import/export of psychedelic substances for medical use and scientific research, as per LA Weekly.
