Switzerland’s SchlossHotel Is Europe’s Debut CBD-Infused Getaway

The high-end, luxurious experience at Switzerland's SchlossHotel hopes to help guests "stay active, stay well."

For the first time ever, Europe just received its very first cannabis-infused bed and breakfast/retreat located in the electric-car-accessible town of Zermatt in Switzerland, reports Lampoon

Cannabis that contains less than 1% THC is legal throughout Switzerland, allowing places like the SchlossHotel to incorporate cannabidiol (CBD) in various ways like through massages, scrambled eggs, and everything in between.

Lampoon explains the building was founded by Lothar Stöpfer, an artist who named it the Tenne guest house in 1964. Two decades later, the Perren family decided to purchase the building and give the space its current name.

“When we were developing the spa, we asked, how do we make ourselves stand out? We went to Aledolci&Co. and began choosing materials and gaining direction. That is when we, as a team, first explored the idea of a CBD spa,” says Director of SchlossHotel Alex Perren.

Far from just your average hotel, the complex offers a high-end retreat that’s branched out to incorporate different avenues like SchlossHouse, SchlossSpa, and SchlossSport. According to Lampoon, some of the most inviting CBD treatments include massages, facials, and other beauty-centric activities.

Perren explains that his hotel “partnered with a company in Switzerland that delivers our CBD, including oil lotions. With their guidance and advice, we introduced a hemp sauna and CBD shower. We serve CBD muesli and scrambled eggs with hemp oil at the breakfast buffet each morning.”

In addition to the existing CBD ventures, Perren touched on how the SchlossHotel will also introduce “a hemp-infused gin and tonic, and in the winter, we welcome our guests with hemp chocolates. We continue to expand on this, fully aware of the health benefits of these natural products.”

Furthermore, there are also free classes like wellness/mindfulness meditation, morning yoga sessions, and high-intensity workouts like weight training and cardio.

It’s safe to say that SchlossHotel does not center all operations around CBD; instead, it uses cannabidiol in areas where guests can benefit from it, especially during relaxation practices like yoga or spa-related services.

Lampoon reports that SchlossHotel’s sole mission is not to become Europe’s go-to CBD retreat but to help individuals “stay active, stay well.”
