This Album Was Made For Your Weed Plant

Written and recorded by Julliard-educated musician and composer Mort Garson, his 10-track Moog-created album, ‘Mother Earth’s Plantasia,’ was designed specifically for plants of all kinds.

When purchasing any type of plant on Melrose Avenue, you’re sent home with a gift of growth, courtesy of Mort Garson. The album is subtitled “warm earth music for plants…and the people that love them.”

Garson’s daughter, Day Darment, said that “When my dad found the synthesizer, he realized he didn’t want to do pop music anymore.”

After discovering Robert Moog’s new device in 1967, he began toying with it to create a new and refreshing sound.

“My mom had a lot of plants,” Darmet says. “She didn’t believe in organized religion; she believed the earth was the best thing in the whole world. Whatever created us was incredible.”

Thus, ‘Mother Earth’s Plantasia’ is equal parts plant food and a tribute to his wife, who made everything flower and blossom around him.

“My dad would be totally pleased to know that people are really interested in this music that had no popularity at the time,” Darmet says. “He would be fascinated by the fact that people are finally understanding and appreciating this part of his musical career that he got no admiration for back then.”
